Beijing Gardens of the French Embassy

FMp_pekin_01

The gardens of the new French embassy offer places for living, for contemplation and for the expression of French culture. Through a scenography that works in collusion with Oriental culture, the project reveals a series of contrasted plant atmospheres that refer to fragments of French landscapes.

As the walker moves through them, one space slides into another, building the scene and the backdrop in turn. The central garden with its wide lawn forms a space for holding receptions; in the distance, the underwood garden offers different viewpoints on the waterfall and the ornamental lake; the border garden hosts more intimate spaces.
